Celebrating Volunteers' Week 2024!

As we celebrate Volunteers' Week 2024, we want to take a moment to put a spotlight on and say thank you to our amazing volunteers. We are very grateful for the time that they generously give, along with their support and efforts, to help to create positive change within our communities.

A word from some of our volunteers on their thoughts and stories on volunteering:

"I find volunteering to be both rewarding and extremely interesting... Volunteering for Healthwatch is one of the best choices I have made."

"I have volunteered with Healthwatch Stoke-on-Trent for a number of years. I find it very satisfying to know that I am helping the people of Stoke-on-Trent to get better healthcare!"

“I have had the privilege of being a volunteer for Healthwatch Stoke-on-Trent for the best part of a decade. During this time, I have seen the role I play within Healthwatch expand. I am now an 'Authorised Representative' which means that I am trained to perform Enter and View visits to local services. Sometimes the role of a volunteer is demanding, but as a volunteer, we are supported at all times by the excellent staff. I find the role that I perform for Healthwatch Stoke-on-Trent always rewarding. To me personally I like to think I am giving something back to my community and to the greater people of Stoke-on-Trent."

But this celebration goes beyond our own fabulous team. Volunteers' Week takes place on the first week in June every year and is a time to recognise and celebrate volunteers everywhere. Volunteers' Week was first established in 1984 by Volunteering England, which makes this year the 40th anniversary!
